In addition to his leadership at Intel, Moore was a giant of the technology industry and one of America&#039;s leading philanthropists. Best known for <!--more-->Moore&#039;s Law and the creation of an iconic semiconductor company. In 2000, he and his wife Betty founded the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. To date, the foundation has invested more than $5 billion to preserve the environment, advance science, improve patient care, and preserve the distinctive character of the Bay Area.<\/p>\n<p>A tribute to Moore&#039;s life, work and legacy is scheduled for 1 p.m. June 1 PDT.
