The CAA issues Virgin Orbit pre-launch licenses in the UK

Public safety, the environment and international obligations were among the mandatory tests Virgin Orbit had to meet to get the licences, says CAA representative. The launch has already taken place in early 2023.

Perhaps the process was thought to be taking too long – it was expected to be up and running by the end of 2022 – the authority stressed that licenses were issued within 15 months. It said it put the UK system on a competitive footing with international space regulators.
