Called STM32WBA52, the ICs are similar to the company's previous Cortex-M4-based STM32WB wireless microcontrollers and a +10dBm 2Mbps 2.4GHz transceiver (10.6mA at 0dBm TX, 7.4mA Rx) that supports up to 20 simultaneous connections.

“The STM32WBA52 targets Arm PSA Certified Level security standards 3 and SESIP3 IoT", according to ST. “Strengthening cyber protection is provided by PSA's security program, which is based on security isolation, memory protection, tamper protection and Arm TrustZone. The platform comes with secure firmware based on Trusted Firmware for Arm Cortex-M.”

This security software, as explained below, conforms to a PSA-certified security system with an immutable PSA root. trust, including secure download and secure firmware updates, cryptography, secure storage, and runtime attestation. The company also included symmetric and asymmetric side-channel-resistant cryptographic accelerators, as well as a hardware-unique key.

There are two parts so far: the STM32WBA52CG with 1MB flash and 128KB RAM, then the …CE with 512KB flash and 96KB RAM. Both flash and RAM receive ECC (Error Code Correction) to ensure data integrity, and both devices come in a 7 x 7mm open panel UFQFPN48 package.

M33 100 MHz (CoreMark = 407) operating power is 50 µA/MHz. (1.8V LDO 25°C) and has 10 supply modes up to 140nA in standby mode with everything off.

For development, there is the STM32CubeWBA package with the certified Bluetooth Low Energy 5.3 protocol stack for the STM32Cube toolkit. A dedicated Nucleo-WBA52CG developer board is planned.

And (indicating similar parts in the UFQFPN32 5 x 5mm package).
