We previously claimed that a collision had occurred, but now NASA has confirmed that the rover selected for the collision was damaged during its flight.

The image above shows a picture taken from Hubble. Space Telescope, October 8, 2022. It shows debris that flew off the surface of the asteroid hours after it was struck by NASA's DART spacecraft (September 26).
NASA says the shape of this tail has changed over time, and scientists are studying this material and how it moves through space to better understand the asteroid.
