NXP adds single-core Cortex-A55 options to the sub-pin i.MX 9 series

the existing i.MX 93 family has two A55s and a Cortex-M33, while the high-end i.MX 95 family includes up to six A55s, an M33, a Cortex-M7 and an audio DSP.

Dubbed the i.MX 91, the new parts include support for LPDDR4 memory, dual Gigabit Ethernet to support gateway or multiple networks, dual USB ports, and a choice of general purpose, including camera input, display output, and audio inputs and outputs.

"EdgeLock's integrated secure enclave provides security features such as lifecycle management, intrusion detection, secure boot, and a simplified path to certification," according to the company. “These security features are accessed through security software provided by NXP. Hardware and software commonality with the i.MX 93 family provides additional platform options for scaling product lines. All i.MX 9 series products are guaranteed for at least 15 years as members of the NXP Product Longevity Program.”

The company manufactures a variety of power and wireless chips to support its i. In the second half of this year, MX processors and plans for select customers to receive special i.MX development tools for select customers.

Intelligent factory, home and office applications are provided, as well as the use of devices, measurements and system modules in medicine.

"New protocols such as Matter or the ISO 15118-20 standard for EV chargers are creating inflection points for new product categories in the IoT and industrial markets," said NXP. “These products often rely on Linux [and] the i.MX 91 family enables developers to build Linux-based peripherals such as home controllers, connected appliances, home entertainment, industrial scanning and printing, building control, electric vehicle chargers, and medical platforms .”
